Jessica Alba is concerned with children in Africa as well, as she participated and organized many charitable events to ensure educational means, through the 1Goal movement. Another campaign that caught Jessica Alba and that made a stir in the public media world was the Declare Yourself campaign. This one focused on encouraging young people to vote and express their opinions without constrictions. The adds featured Jessica Alba tied with black tape as a symbol of oppression and limited speech rights. The campaign was highly criticized as being too rough, but the message was successfully delivered.
